College Board Testing

Junior year is the best time to take the SAT or ACT – there is no need to wait until 2nd semester of your junior year, you can take them 1st semester of your junior year as well. You can take either test at the beginning of your senior year, but your scores may be delayed to your desired college(s) before the first application deadline (if senior year is when you are applying).   Your score(s) are forwarded directly to the admissions officer of the campus applied to by the agency which administers the test.

  • ACT
  • SAT

Best Time to Apply for College

The best time to apply to college(s) is recommended by Thanksgiving break. The first early action deadline is usually October 15th. The next early or regular decision deadlines are typically

 November 1st and December 1st.

Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

To receive financial assistance  it is recommended that you apply earlier rather than later. You can almost apply anytime, but it is recommended completing FAFSA in the fall, along with your college application(s) because schools run out of money at some point. FAFSA opens in October each year, so completing it by December is the best recommendation.
